Sentralisering skjer over hele verden. De aller fleste steder er verdiene og makten samlet sentralt, og gode løsninger for å skape mer likeverdige helsetjenester, uavhengig av geografi, har derfor global interesse. I løpet av én apriluke har det nettbaserte tidskriftet Rural and Remote Health Journal publisert artikler fra alle verdenshjørner: Om diskriminering av urfolk i Australia, øknomiske støtteordninger for folk på landsbygda i Kina, desentralisert tannlegeutdanning i Nigeria og implementering av et screeningprogram mot brystkreft i Brasil.

'Comparative validation of self-report measures of negative attitudes towards Aboriginal Australians and Torres Strait Islanders' Racial prejudice, an everyday experience for Aboriginal people in Australia, has detrimental effects on mental and physical health. But negative, prejudicial attitudes among healthcare professionals can increase existing access barriers to services. This study used three tools to examine negative attitudes towards Aboriginal Australians, and suggests an opportunity to address racial prejudice in undergraduate curricula.
'Guangxi's rural health insurance scheme: evidence from an ethnic minority region in China' China's New Rural Cooperative Medical Scheme was designed to provide affordable health care for rural residents who faced potential impoverishment due to medical expenses. This policy report describes the wide-ranging scheme's 2003 roll-out in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, where the high ethnic minority population posed special policy challenges.
